Foaming Behavior of Microsized Aluminum Foam Using Hot Rolling Precursor

Aluminum foam that is lightweight with high specific strength, energy absorption and other characteristics can be used in aerospace, transportation, machinery manufacturing fields. The PCM method usually to prepare closed-cell aluminum foams. microsized foams made by this process solve the non-uniform pore structures caused liquid drainage during foaming of large surface morphology internal structure are affected quality precursor for foaming. In paper, foamable precursors were obtained via either hot rolling or extrusion subsequently foamed. By analyzing micromorphology precursor, influence technological on macroscopic final was studied. results show powder particles prepared had metallurgical bonding, outer dense, almost no porosity holes interior. after smooth appearance, round uniform. reason microsize foam, agent evenly distributed because its compact structure. During process, decomposed gas will not escape, tends nucleate situ. rapid foaming, pressure bubble enough resist phenomenon gravity, growth direction core isotropic, which promotes more rounded
